“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

— Proverbs 22:6 —

Let's be real:
Your kids are feeling BIG feelings...

Your four-year-old is biting her brother again…

Your six-year-old can’t fall asleep because she keeps thinking about tomorrow…

Your three-year-old is on the floor screaming because his cup is the wrong color…

They don’t have the words or tools to calm themselves yet, and you don’t have a screen-free way to teach them. So you’re stuck, wondering if there’s a better way to help them than just white-knuckling through every tantrum?

Yep, there is a better way.

Through the wisdom of the saints and the science of emotional regulation, we’re giving little ones the skills to calm their bodies and speak kindly to themselves. So they don’t have to be 24, 34, or 44 years old before they learn how.

Each story comes with a Learning Track (for calm moments) and a Practice Track (for the middle of a big feeling).

settling a high-energy body

Brigid the Bumblebee

After a wonderful birthday party, Brigid the bumblebee can’t seem to land. Her wings keep buzzing, her heart keeps racing, and she snaps at her sister when all she wants is to rest.

With Hildegard the Owl’s help, Brigid learns that a buzzy body needs to slow down little by little, and that Jesus is close, even when she feels too big to be still.

The companion practice track helps your little one settle their own buzzing body after a big day.

calming worry

Martin the Rabbit & The BIG Recital

Martin the rabbit has practiced his piano song for weeks. But the night before the forest recital, his mind fills with what-ifs: “What if I forget? What if I mess up?!”

Hildegard the Owl teaches him that worry-thoughts feel real but most never come true, and reminds him of Pope John Paul II’s three special words: Be not afraid.

The companion practice track helps your worried little one let the ‘what-ifs’ float by and come back to a calm body.

considering others

Crispin the Crow is Always Right

Crispin the crow loves knowing the right way to do things… and telling his friends when they’re doing it wrong.

When his sharp words hurt his friend Benedict the Bear, Hildegard the Owl gently teaches him to pause before he pecks, and to ask two simple questions: Is it kind? Is it needed?

Rooted in 1 Corinthians 13, this story helps your little one practice kindness over correction. The companion practice track gives them tools to pause when their words want to fly out fast.

handling disappointment

A Hard Morning for Clare the Fawn

Clare the fawn has a tender heart. When her brother takes her favorite blue cup, her sparkly shoes have to stay home, her seat in the car is the middle one, and her favorite song gets switched off… the disappointments stack until the dam breaks.

Instead of telling her she’s overreacting, Mama Doe pulls the car over and helps Clare name the feeling, hug herself, and talk to Jesus right in her heart.

The companion practice track walks your little one through their own hard moments with the same gentle steps.

Who am I?

I'm a Catholic homeschooling mama of six.

I had six kids in eight years and I was losing my mind.
Parenting felt impossibly hard: extreme anger, feeling touched out, then despair & hopelessness. I was sure I was a terrible mom.

Sterling Jaquith, founder of Catholic Mom Calm and Calm Catholic Kids

Sterling Jaquith

That couldn’t possibly be how God wanted me to live out my vocation of motherhood. So I learned how to enjoy the day-to-day life of mothering, and a lot of it came down to emotional regulation — understanding how feelings worked in my body and how I could calm myself down when the big feelings hit.

Ten years ago, I started teaching these skills to Catholic moms. And immediately, they asked: “How can we teach these skills to our kids so they don’t have to wait until adulthood to learn this?”

So I finally did it. Calm Catholic Kids is my answer: fun audio adventure stories that teach emotional regulation skills to kids ages 4–6, rooted in Catholic faith.

Each story has a learning track for when they’re calm, and a practice track for when they’re in the middle of a big feeling. Because the best time to teach a skill is BEFORE the meltdown and the best time to practice it is DURING one.

What moms are saying

It both helps him as well as coaches me on what to say to help him!

Just wanted to say thanks for your product, literally rescued our day!

My son really didn’t want to go to our co-op this morning and I played the one about being scared and he got ready painlessly — and even at bed time, instead of getting out of bed 7 times, he fell asleep listening to a deliciously calming but Catholic bedtime story.

The practice for the story is great too cause it both helps him as well as coaches me on what to say to help him! Thanks so much!

I gave her the bedtime stories to listen to and it seemed to have worked!

I just put the tracks on a Yoto card this past weekend and the kids have enjoyed listening. My 8 year old daughter came downstairs after putting her to bed last night and said she had too much energy to fall asleep. I gave her the bedtime stories to listen to and it seemed to have worked! Thank you!

I love all your work and it’s been a blessing to me and my family.

I LOVE them! They calm me down too when I put them on before naptime. I’m still working on putting them on the Yoto but they’ve already been super helpful. Your no-yelling webinar was super eye opening to me. Thank you. I love all your work and it’s been a blessing to me and my family.

We heard him whispering “Jesus, I trust in You” and taking slow deep breaths.

We listened to Marie and the Quiet Night before bed. Instead of hearing our 6yo calling for us later because he was scared, we heard him whispering “Jesus, I trust in You” and taking slow deep breaths. He put himself to sleep without worrying himself scared (and I got an uninterrupted evening with my husband). AMAZING.

Kylie

It was such a sweet little moment.

I bought the stories and I have listened to most of them with my “spicy” 5 year old son. I am trying to work with him on the angry outbursts, so the first one resonated.

He started swimming lessons about a week after listening to the little mouse one, so when it was time to go, we practiced the wrist movement and remembering “Jesus is with me.” When he was at the edge of the pool waiting for his turn, we caught eyes and I rubbed my wrist, and he smiled and imitated. It was such a sweet little moment.

Your calm, slow voice gives me an example to imitate too. It was a lightbulb moment to realize I can speak slowly and calmly and it can calm me AND my son down.

Laurie

Seeing him breathe in the cool air and blow out the fire and repeat “Jesus I trust in you” is just short of a miracle.

My 3 and 4 year old boys LOVE the stories! My youngest of four boys is proving to be our most challenging kiddo and he’s three which is already a tough age. He is super persistent and has a very hard time calming down when he is upset. Seeing him breathe in the cool air and blow out the fire and repeat “Jesus I trust in you” is just short of a miracle.

My 4 year old begs to go to sleep listening to the manger story before bed. “Ms. Sterling” has quickly become a household name and your stories are the Yoto cards they now reach for most.

Couldn’t be happier and have recommended them to our preschool buddies and Bible Study mom’s group. Thank you again for such awesome content for our kids!

Mary Jane

Popped the Dominic dragon calm down story on for my tantruming 5yo gal… worked like a charm! And she asked for another one!
